In a world where the word "toxic" gets thrown around a lot, it is more important than ever to remind ourselves that the masculine, in its essence, is just as divine as the feminine. Unfortunately, we often lack examples and/or role models for what lived healthy masculinity means and how we can embody and embrace it fully.
Men need spaces where they can connect as brothers and talk about their emotions and inner worlds openly and safely, without fear of being judged or shamed. We need to be able to talk about questions like the ones posed above freely. When we come together in this way and open our hearts, listen to each other with full attention and express ourselves in our raw authenticity and vulnerability, we realize that we are not alone. We feel seen, heard and understood. We know that we can express our deepest insecurities, frustrations, doubts and joy. And that is immensely liberating. It can be an extremely powerful and transformative experience for a man who has never had access to such a space.
Luckily, more and more men's circles are sprouting up around the globe.
For those of us that either don't have access to a men's circle where they live or are moving around frequently, I have created an online men's circle. It consists of a two main components:
